PRAY FOR OUR CHILDREN AND YOUTH
With the changing times and the peer pressure that children and youth face in today’s society each and every child and youth who attends New Hope Baptist Church needs your specific prayers. The life-changing prayer that I would like you to include in praying for the child or youth you choose comes from Colossians I: 9-14.
I believe we at New Hope would like to see the seeds we’re sowing in these children’s lives bear fruit. I believe we can do that if we all invest some time in praying for these young lives and focus on their needs.

Choose a child or teen to place on your prayer list. There are yellow folders with Kid’s Connection kids and red folders with the Youth Connection pictures. Please take a folder and sign your name and phone number on the list next to the child’s name. I will keep in contact with you if I see a specific need of the child or give you a progress report.

Each time we have a new child or youth attending one of our youth and children ministries his/her picture will be added for a New Hope member to choose and pray for.

CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
On September 1 the Church Council
*reaffirmed its approval of allowing Cub Scout Pack 475 to use the building on the back of our property as a Scout Hut.
*approved requests from the Building and Grounds Committee: We will receive the gift of some playground equipment from the City of Daytona Beach Shores and pay up to $500 per year in increased costs for liability insurance. We will have workdays each month in order to keep our grounds looking good. We will pay up to $850 to have stumps ground on the rear of our property.
*heard from Church Treasurer Vernon Buchanan that our weekly giving is falling $650 short of budget needs. The pastor talked about his plans to preach on "Our Hope for New Hope" and his belief that giving will follow vision. Plans are being developed to encourage members to commit to paying down our building debt so that monthly mortgage payments can be reduced and funds freed up for ministry.

Boyd Frank has been looking carefully at worship attendance. He is beginning to compile figures that allow us to compare attendance from last year. Average worship attendance in August of ‘08 was 74. In ‘09 it was 98. Our average worship attendance for the last 12 months is 89.

GRANDMA'S CHANGED
In the dim and distant past,
when life's tempo wasn't fast.
Grandma used to rock and knit,
crochet, tat and babysit.
One could always count on Gram
if the kids got in a jam.
In the age of gracious living,
Grandma was the gal for giving.
Grandma now is at the gym,
exercising to keep slim.
She's off touring with the bunch,
taking clients out to lunch.
Driving north to ski and curl,
all her days are in a whirl.
Nothing seems to stop or block her,
now that Grandma's off her rocker.

Happy Grandparents Day, September 13, to all the Grandmas and Grandpas in our congregation.
