Do You Have a Good Dessert Recipe?
We are collecting dessert recipes this month for the New Hope Cookbook. Please be sure to include your name before dropping your recipe in the decorated box at the rear of the sanctuary.
YOUTH RETREAT
Eight of our teens traveled to St. Simons Island, GA, for a youth retreat last month with Dr. Mulkey and Cheryl Secunda as chaperones. Three girls made a profession of faith while at the retreat and one boy rededicated his life.
We thank God for their decisions. There’s talk of another retreat in 2010.
YOUTH PROGRESSIVE DINNER
Friday, August 14
See Cheryl Secunda for details.
KIDS CONNECTION
Children of the church and community will not take a break during the month of August as previously discussed.
The fun and learning continue on Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM with Discovery Canyon. Due to some problems with technology we were unable to post the children’s pictures on the bulletin board last month. Hopefully we will have them up soon so you may pick a child to hold in your prayers.
VBS MISSION PROJECT
As of press time VBS campers and their counselors had donated over 200 books for the children at Open House ministries in Homestead, FL. We are so proud of their wanting to share with those less fortunate.
BOOK EXCHANGE
In connection with the August sermon series, you will find two small commentaries on Ephesians and one on James on the bookshelf. Also, Forgive and Forget, Smedes, is circulating for the Wednesday night discussion of forgiveness led by the pastor.
Additional Christian fiction for summer pleasure reading will be on the shelf by August 9.
